Lifetime Learning

Lifetime Learning allows you to register for face-to-face workshops (including online) and provides a full list of training courses and dates for service providers working with Lifetime Care and Workers Care.

Priority for workshops is given to service providers that work directly with icare participants or workers. We’ll review workshop requests in Lifetime Learning and confirm your place if appropriate. If a workshop is full or not scheduled yet, you can register your interest by going on the waiting list. 

If you've registered for a workshop and you can no longer attend, you can cancel your registration in Lifetime Learning.

Emotional Wellbeing Toolkit

The Emotional Wellbeing Toolkit is now run as an online 4-part course on the Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) website.

Deakin University and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District have partnered together to create a suite of tools to support improving communication between clinicians and the people they work with.

Together they have created an online learning module and suite of tools that will provide you with information and skills around the use of teach-back.

  • Who should attend: Approved case managers who are new to Lifetime Care and Workers Care Program.

    Delivery format: Webinar/online

    What we cover:

    • your role as a case manager when working with Lifetime Care or the Workers Care Program
    • planning with participants
    • requesting supports on behalf of participants
    • promoting independence for participants and their families.

  • Who should attend: Service providers who are completing a care needs reviews or plans with Lifetime Care or Workers Care participants.

    Delivery format: 

    • 5-part online workshop comprising: 3 videos (approximately 10 minutes each), and online e-learning module (approximately 30 minutes) and a 2-hour live webinar.

    The CANS is designed to measure the level of support needs of older adolescents and adults (16 years and older) with traumatic brain injury. The CANS is required to be used for all adult participants with a brain injury when undertaking every care needs review or plan.

    What we cover:

    • background of the CANS
    • how to administer, score and interpret the CANS.

    We run CANS workshops in conjunction with the John Walsh Centre for Rehabilitation Research.

  • Who should attend: Service providers who are completing care needs reviews or plans with Lifetime Care participants aged 5 to 15 years old.

    Delivery format: Online live webinar - 2 x 2 hour sessions over 2 weeks

    The PCANS-2 is designed to measure the types, extent and intensity of support needs of young people aged between 5 and 15 years who have an acquired brain injury. The PCANS-2 is required for all participants aged 5 to 15 years on an annual basis.

    What we cover:

    • background of the PCANS-2
    • how to administer, score and interpret the PCANS-2

    We run PCANS-2 workshops in conjunction with the John Walsh Centre for Rehabilitation Research.

  • Who should attend: Service providers who want to complete FIM or WeeFIM assessments with Lifetime Care and Workers Care participants and injured workers as part of the eligibility criteria for participation in Lifetime Care and acceptance into Workers care.

    FIM and WeeFIM assessors must have current credentials with the Australasian Rehabilitation Outcomes Centre (AROC).

    Delivery format: Live online full day workshop

    The FIM and WeeFIM instruments provide a basic indicator of severity of disability. It forms part of the eligibility criteria for participation in the Lifetime Care and Support Scheme and acceptance into the Workers Care Program. 

    What we cover:

    • background of FIM and WeeFIM
    • how to administer and score FIM and WeeFIM.

    We run FIM and WeeFIM training in conjunction with AROC.

    Providers who haven’t previously attended training and been credentialed should attend the full workshop. We pay for the workshop and manual, but the fee to sit the final exam is not paid by us.

    Providers who have previously been credentialed may be eligible to sit an online refresher (which includes the exam).
